Jewel of the Month: Fire Opal

Fire opal is formed by igneous processes in volcanically active areas with hot springs and geysers.  It gets its color from iron.  Fire opal vibrates with the lower 3 chakras, especially the 3rd chakra, the center of our inner fire; the center of our will and manifestation. It is associated with the planet Mars. Fire opal is known as the initiator stone as it helps us to get into action.  It takes us out of the habit of thinking too long and getting stuck in the paralysis of analysis.  With fire opal energy we have the power to take on risks and not be bound by fear.  It is the stone that drives the power of our will, to reclaim our right to act and not be held back by false barriers.  Fire opal charges up our will and assists with the development of the Spiritual Warrior.  The Spiritual Warrior archetype represents one who can stand their ground and protect the sacred from within.  The Spiritual warrior accepts challenges while maintaining a positive outlook and maintains their power in a firm but quiet way.  Fire opal lights the fire within, helping us to accomplish much in a short amount of time. Fire opals are often used to draw money to you.

Jewel of the Month: Pink Chalcedony

Pink chalcedony is a hard sedimentary rock that is formed of microcrystalline quartz.  Pink chalcedony with its pale pink color energizes the heart (4th) chakra.  It represents understanding and helpfulness from us to help others deal with their problems and sorrows.  Pink chalcedony encourages brotherhood among all, allowing goodness, warm-heartedness and kindness to come forth and assist those in need.  Its energy enhances generosity and brings about a feeling of inner peace.

Jewel of the Month: Sapphire

Sapphire belongs to the corundum family and obtains its color from iron and titanium.  The name sapphire comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Sani” meaning Saturn and was considered to be the stone of Saturn in the old cultures of Europe and India.  Sapphire energizes the brow chakra (6th) and allows us to see old patterns that are no longer useful in our lives.  When we align with Sapphire we are able to look at our own lives in a critical way and toss out everything that does not stand up to scrutiny.  With Sapphire energy our intentions will become so clear that both thoughts and ideas will be realized very rapidly.  Sapphire encourages processes to maintain health and well being through a mental decision to stay balanced and healthy.

Jewel of the Month: Ruby

Ruby gets its red color from the presence of chromium and is part of the corundum family. It can also occasionally display a star like luminosity in the light. Ruby aligns with the 1st (root) chakra and the 4th (heart) chakra. It is known to be the stone of life force energy which begins in the base of the spine at the root chakra. Rubies have been used to assist in financial stability and to improve ones economic status. The energy of ruby encourages you to follow your bliss and can assist in changing your world. It also promotes expansiveness, encourages creativity and awareness in the manifestation process.

Jewel of the Month: Unakite

Unakite is a mixed mineral appearing as a mottled rock consisting of pink Feldspar, green Epidote and Quartz.  Its color is olive green with spots of opaque coral and relates to both the Sacral (2nd) Chakra and the Heart (4th) Chakra.  Unakite helps to balance and align the emotional body, uprooting deeply suppressed feelings and bringing them to the surface for healing.  It helps to gently clear emotional blocks that keep us from moving forward in life.  Unakite assists us to release feelings of grief, especially if you are grieving for the loss of an ideal, or a dream of what might have been.

Jewel of the Month: Petrified Wood

Petrified Wood is formed when dead wood gets saturated with silicic acid and in the absence of air, solidifies through the loss of water.  Depending on the circumstances of its formation, its substance is replace by agate, quartz or more rarely, opal.  Petrified Wood vibrates with the root (1st) chakra, which is located at the base of the spine.  Petrified wood bestows a feeling of bond with the earth and of being in the right place at the right time.  It stimulates inner imagery and ideas, yet keeps us firmly planted in realty.  Trees are the overseers or chiefs of the plant kingdom.  They tower above the earth with their roots sunk deeply into the ground.  “They grow from the seeds of their forefathers and fertilize their children with their bodies as they depart”.  Trees represent the roots of new beginnings.  Petrified wood holds the records of how the growth from seedling to maturity takes place.  It is the stone of transformation assisting one to rise to ones highest chosen level.

Jewel of the Month: Zoisite

Zoisite was first discovered in Austria towards the end of the eighteenth century and was named after the mineral collector Freiherr Von Zois.  Zoisite’s green color comes from the presence of chromium and vanadium and it forms in rough masses.  Zoisite masses occasionally have Ruby scattered throughout the stone.  Zoisite stimulates fertility and if Ruby is present it increases potency.

Sugilite is a rare stone and there are only two sources that have been discovered so far; one in Japan and one in South Africa. Sugilite was discovered in 1944 by Dr. Kenichi Sugi, and was therefore named after him. It is a stone that is known to represent the Age of Aquarius and its violet color vibrates with the crown (7th) chakra. Sodalite is an Indigo blue stone with veins of white running through it.  Its name means ‘sodium stone’.  It energizes the brow (6th) chakra, our third eye.  Sodalite has a calming affect on the mind allowing for new information to be received.  It increases our yearning for freedom from restrictive ideas, dogmas, and beliefs that no longer serve us.

Labradorite is feldspar that obtains its iridescent colors from a fine laminate structure that bends incoming light. Labradorite represents the “temple of the stars”. It assists us in sustaining and maintaining, while providing the understanding of the destiny one has chosen in this lifetime. Labradorite vibrates with the 6th (brow) chakra which assists us to transform our intuition into intellectual thought which can then be implemented into our lives. It clearly shows us our goals and intentions so that we can see their real shape.  Labradorite stimulates our imagination bringing us to a place of introverted contemplation. It reminds us that magic is at work in our lives and that great mystery is about to open before us, a wonderful present and future that is about to be revealed.  Labradorite helps us to look at the paths and the choices before us.

Fluorite is part of the cubic crystal system meaning that the arrangement of atoms in its crystalline structure forms in cubic shapes. The largest occurrences of fluorite are of magmatic origin. Fluorite arises as a component of acid magmatic rock and it forms in a rainbow of colors. Fluorite vibrates with the crown (7th) chakra. It encourages self-discipline, concentration, and grounding. It assists us to bring order, organization and self-control into our lives. Fluorite affects the brain directly and has been known as a "stone of discernment and aptitude". It stimulates the rapid absorption and processing of information. Fluorite is an excellent learning aid stimulating us to cross-reference existing knowledge and to become aware of things that we have not fully understood conceptually.
