Road Warrior

September 22nd, 2007

Sunshine (my car) and I hit the road yesterday for our next adventure. We are on our way to Sedona, Arizona to attend James Ray’s Spiritual Warrior worshop. I am excited and know that it will be another life changing event. It will also provide me with plenty of insights to share with you. I have always wanted to visit Sedona which is said to be in a part of land that is an energy vortex. If you have never been to an area of energy vortices, it increases and enhances your experience and raises your vibration. I once visited Yelapa, Mexico for a retreat where there is also an energy vortex. It was a profound experience.

I am sitting in a motel room in Kanab, Utah looking out my window at the gorgeous red rock bluffs which have been seen in so many films, especially old westerns. This morning I had a breathtaking western view of pink and gray clouds in a light blue sky over the deep red rock bluffs as the sun was rising in the east. Then the sun began to illuminate the tips of the bluffs as the pink began to fade away. It was awesome! I took pictures and will post them when I return home.

I don’t know if I will have the opportunity to continue posting about my experience in Sedona. James keeps you pretty occupied and I like to have the time away from electronics and disconnect so I can reconnect with myself. I will definately share about my experience upon my return and share some pictures as well.

Namaste,

Annette

Just What You Need

September 20th, 2007

Today I received an email from a list that I had subscribed to which had just the message I needed. I had experienced a situation at home which had brought on some unpleasant emotions and the message was clear that I needed to let it go; that there was a higher way to view the experience.

I was talking to a friend today and she had a similar experience yesterday where she had received a phone call from someone she knew telling her that she felt she needed to say a prayer for my friend that day and to call her if there was anything that she needed. My friend too was experiencing a challenge and the message of the phone call was just what she needed and made it clear to her that she was supported and loved.

How many times have you received a message that snaps you out of a funk, hits you upside the head, or gives you a key insight or creative idea right when you needed it?

Are you paying attention?

Are you open to receive the message?

Namaste,

Annette

Gardens-a-Plenty

September 13th, 2007

The harvest is in full swing and if you are like many, you may have an over-abundance of zucchini. If you don’t have a garden then maybe your neighbors are dropping it off on your doorstep. We have a saying here in Utah to be sure that you lock your car or you may come back to a car full of zucchini. I want to share a cake recipe with you to assist you in using the abundance of this wonderful vegetable or if this is not the case, you can purchase some at your local farmer’s market. I made this cake and brought it into the office today and it received rave reviews.

Annette’s Low Fat, Super Moist Chocolate Zucchini Cake ©2007

1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1-3/4 cups of sugar (preferrably unrefined)
2 eggs (I use organic brown eggs high in Omega-3 fatty acids)
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup buttermilk
2-1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour (organic if possible)
4 Tbls. Cocoa (organic is best)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. sea salt
2 cups grated zucchini
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped nuts

In a mixing bowl, cream applesauce and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk; blend. Add flour, cocoa, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon and salt; stir until moist. Add zucchini and mix well. Using cooking spray, coat and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan. Spoon mixture into pan. Sprinkle top with chocolate chips and nuts. If using a glass pan bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. If using a metal pan, bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

This cake does not require frosting. It is sooo moist it doesn’t need it. In fact, frosting detracts from it’s unique flavor. I have frosted it as a birthday cake for my kids before and I definately like it better without.

Enjoy!

Namaste,

Annette

Busy, Busy, Busy

September 7th, 2007

I have been so busy this week that I have not had nor have I taken the time to write a blog post. I have felt a quite overwhelmed this week.
So what is the best thing to do when you feel busy and overwhelmed? Take a few moments to see how you are spending your time. Are you taking advantage of the best use of your time? Are you doing tasks that can be taken care of by others? Are you unwilling to ask for help if you need it? Do you take on more than you can handle?
I plan to sit down tomorrow and look back on my week and ask myself these questions. Next week I intend to have better management of my time by becoming aware, getting clear and taking control now.

Namaste,

Annette
