Today is Vernal Equinox and the first day of spring. I am stoked about spring arriving. It has been a snowy, cold winter and I am ready for the light (and heat) to return. Here are a few fun facts about Vernal Equinox.

Equinox means “equal night” or a day when there are equal night and daylight hours.

Ancient cultures held huge celebrations at Vernal Equinox as it represented a time when the food supplies would be restored.

The ancient Egyptians built the Great Sphinx so that it faces the sunrise directly at Vernal Equinox.

In astrology, Vernal Equinox represents the Sun entering into Aries.

Celebrate Spring! I know I am. I celebrated today by having a big, fresh, green salad for lunch, my share of spring greens.

Wow! I attended James Ray’s “The Secret of Attracting True Wealth” live event last night. I have attended this event 3 times now and he truly amazes me and inspires me with new information every time I attend.

You know how it is…you hear similar information over and over again, sometimes from the same source and sometimes from different sources and then suddenly you hear it again and BAM!, the light goes on.

Do you know why this happens? Because each time you hear it, you are a different person. You have grown since the last time you heard it so you hear it at different level of awareness and integrate it more into your life.

Last night I watched the movie “August Rush” for the first time. My kids had seen it while I was out having surgery or was out of town and told me what I good show it was. We watched it last night as a family and I was so inspired by the messages in the movie. Especially the message that we can hear the music out there as well as inside of us if we are only willing to listen. Whe we find a way to express our inner music; our inner song, anything is possible. I am not going to share anymore because I do not want to spoil it for those who have not seen the movie. I encourage you to get a copy (if you can, it was sold out and rented almost everywhere in my town) and watch it. Prepare to be inspired!!!

I have been reading Eckhart Tolle’s book “A New Earth” along with the Oprah Book Club. This morning as I was reading it, I read something that really resonated with me that I want to share.

He said “Mastery of life is not a question of control, but of finding a balance between human and Being.” He goes on to say “Human alone is never enough, no matter how hard you try or what you achieve. Then there is Being. It is found in the still, alert presence of Consciousness itself, the Consciousness that you are. Human is form. Being is formless. Human and Being are not seperate but interwovern.”

Powerful, yes? I invite you all to start reading this book. It will provide you with some profound insights. I am amazed at what I have gotten out of this book so far.

John Lennon’s song “Imagine” has always been one of my favorites. The lyrics really touch a deep place inside of me; a place where I have always known that we are all one. Last Thursday, the last verse in the song was song by one of the contestants on American Idol. David Archuleta did a fabulous job with his vocal rendition and brought tears to my eyes. I think that right now in this time of conflict in the world, the political banter going around and tragedy and conflict within our own communities as well as within ourselves, that we remember and integrate the messages of this song and imagine…how it is…when we create a world that is as one.

Here is a video of David’s performance on American Idol. As a mother of teenagers, I think it is a message that he has very powerfully yet eloquently given to his age group. This performance is near and dear to my heart as David is a young man from my hometown and attends high school with my kids. Enjoy!!!
