Body Image
August 13th, 2007It’s back to school time and as I have been taking my boys out to buy school clothes I am reminded of how important body image is. As teens, we want to fit in at school and be liked. I believe what we experience in our formative years has a great effect on our body image as we age.
Youth is very much admired in our society not only in terms of age but also in our attitudes and our outlook on life. Developing a positive self image and healthy attitude is only the first step. We must continue to nurture it through life’s set backs and stumbling blocks. Having a healthy mental attitude about our selves and our lives is required to maintain happiness and wellness as we move through different stages of our lives.
How we perceive our body may change as we age or when encountered with health conditions or illness. We all want to look our best yet this can be challenging when we are not feeling at our best.
If you are struggling with self image, work with a coach who can assist you in developing a positive way of looking at yourself and your circumstances. Role Models and mentors may also play a role in showing us the possibilities. Affirmations and visualizations can help to see ourselves in a different light.
The best place to start is to begin taking care of your health, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually developing Sacred Balance in mind, body and soul.
